India has already handed over the evidence to Saeed's involvement in the terror attack to Pakistan.
In an ultimate doublespeak, 26/11 mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba
(LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed has condemned the November, 2008 terror attack
in Mumbai. During a Pakistani TV show, Hafiz condemned the terrorists
who were involved in the attack in which 164 people were killed and over
300 injured.
"When the incident (Mumbai attack) took place and I was blamed for it, I called the media and clarified that I was not responsible. The very first day I challenged that India can not prove my involvement in the attack and till date India is yet to prove that," Saeed told a Pakistani TV channel.
India has already handed over the evidence to Saeed's involvement in the terror attack to Pakistan. Despite that Saeed continues to roam free in Pakistan. Terrorists nabbed alive in Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past have exposed Saeed's involvement in terror training.
Meanwhile,
it has emerged Hafiz Saeed had handpicked Sajjad Ahmad, the
Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist who was nabbed by security forces in
Jammu and Kashmir last week following a fierce encounter.
The Lashkar terrorist had earlier also revealed that he knew Naved, another Lashkar terrorist nabbed earlier this month and 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab. During interrogation, Sajjad told officials that he was assigned to set up a launching pad for militants in Kashmir.
Sajjad, who infiltrated into the Indian territory from Uri sector on the LoC, said he was to be contacted by Lashkar commander Bilal alias Qasim Bhai. Sajad told his interrogators that he went through a gruelling 45-day training in Lashkar camp in PoK. Earlier, the Pakistani militant was remanded to police custody for five days by a court in Sopore town of Baramulla district.
The court of judicial magistrate (Sopore) granted the police five-day custody of Sajjad Ahmed alias Abu Obaidullah. Four other associates of Sajjad were killed in a two-day long operation after the army intercepted them while they were trying to sneak into Indian side from across the border in Uri sector.
While three militants were killed on August 27, another was gunned down a day earlier, soon after security forces launched a search operation following specific information about presence of a group of militants.
Sajjad's capture came about three weeks after Naved, another LeT terrorist from Pakistan, was nabbed after he and his associate attacked a BSF convoy in Chenani area of Udhampur district on August 5. His associate was killed in the encounter with BSF personnel.
